Procedure of Dhanishta Panchakam Shanti
The ritual begins with a Sankalpam invoking the name of the departed soul and their gothra, followed by purification with Ganapathi and Kalasha pooja. The priest then performs Navagraha Shanti, Pitru Tarpanam, and Dhanishta Panchaka Dosha Parihara rituals by chanting mantras from Garuda Purana and other Shanti granthas. Offerings are made to the fire and water to appease both planetary and ancestral energies.
This is followed by Anna Daanam, vastra daanam, or donation to Brahmins as part of the Shanti procedure. The pooja concludes with a request for forgiveness and blessings from ancestors, and the family receives prasadam and teertham. This ritual ensures spiritual peace to the soul and removes harmful effects on the living family members.
