Pooja Description

Vasant Panchami is performed to the honor of Goddess Saraswathi Devi, the goddess who leave the greatest wealth to humanity, the wealth of knowledge. Goddess Saraswathi has four arms which represents the four aspects of human personality of learning intellect, alertness, mind, ego. In Hindu mythology the goddess Saraswathi Devi is described as pristine lady bedecked with white clothes, flowers, pearls, she holds a veena for playing music, she sit on a white lotus. She rides on a swan it indicates that separating the water from milk every one should perform clear vision and knowledge in between good and evil.

Pooja Procedure

Basant Panchami is considered as most auspicious day because the goddess Saraswathi Devi is born, the devotees wake up early and have bath wear yellow coloured dress and goes to the temple or few perform Vasant Panchami pooja at home, decorating the pooja room and place the idol of Saraswathi Devi. First they perform Lord Ganesh pooja next lord Shiva pooja after that they do Saraswathi pooja as per the rituals. Flowers, garlands, mango leaves, are decorated in home. Rangoli is placed in fish shape it is according to the ritual. Fruits, yellow color dress cloth, books, pens,  jewellery, sweets, coconuts, betel leaves, Kum Kum, Haldi  are placed in front of the idol. Along with the pooja havan is done by the priest with ghee, wood, incense, doop sticks. Chanting mantras, singing songs, bhajans, finally aarthi is given, the special dishes are made on this day and offer it towards the goddess and the people take the prasadam given by the pundit.
